Brot für Alle/Pain pour le Prochain (Bread for All) (BfA)
Bread for all is the Development Service of the Protestant Churches in Switzerland. It supports about 350 development projects and programs in 55 countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America and lobbies governmental authorities, Parliament and the economic sector in Switzerland and worldwide for a more equitable and sustainable development framework.
Bread for all empowers people in Asia, Latin America and Africa to free themselves from poverty and dependency:
- By supporting development projects through our swiss partner organisations (including HEKS, Mission 21, DM-échange et mission).
- By informing and educating the public. In particular, through our yearly ecumenical campaign in cooperation with the Swiss Catholic Lenten Fund, Bread for all contributes to motivate people to push for a fairer world and to act in solidarity for the community.
- By advocating various issues such as the right to food, sustainable development and climate change, fair trade, corporate social and environmental responsibility, fair international finance.
The involvement of Bread for all is based on the conviction that poverty and misery can only be overcome if all people can assert the rights they are entitled to: civil and political rights, gender equality, the rights to education, to health, to food, to an intact environment, to peace.
Bread for all emphasizes the relationship between religion and development.
