Diakonie, Austria

Global solidarity is a fundamental principle of diaconal ministry. In an era of increasing globalization of all spheres of life, we see it as our responsibility to work across the globe providing support.

Projects of Diakonia are designed to strengthen the independence and initiative of those concerned. Therefore, all projects are developed jointly with partner organizations on the ground. For us, this means that we see the people who live in our projects and work as equal partners with whom we are connected in a constant mutual learning process. Only this will also ensure that the impact of the project is sustainable.

We are focusing on marginalized groups in society. People with disabilities, single mothers, young Ashkali and Roma - where large sections of society are always dependent on outside help, are people who belong to these groups to get among the last to receive such aid, too.
