Ethiopian Orthodox Church-Development and Inter-Church Aid Commission (EOC-DICAC)
The Ethiopian Orthodox Church Development and Inter-Church Aid Commission (EOC-DICAC) is the development wing of the church, which was established by a legal notice No. 415 of 1972. It is the oldest Faith Based Organisation in the country.
EOC-DICAC’s mission is to assist the disadvantaged communities in Ethiopia to attain self reliance by tackling the root causes of poverty, drought, conflict, gender inequality and fighting HIV/AIDS pandemic by promoting sustainable development programs and community empowerment.
Since its establishment, EOC-DICAC has been involved in emergency response in time of war and drought, rehabilitation of war and drought victims, undertaking integrated rural development programs mainly consisting of food security, education, water supply, sanitation and health. The Commission has shifted its areas of focus from relief and rehabilitation to sustainable development.
EOC-DICAC has six departments namely; Development, Water Resources Development, HIV/AIDS Prevention & Control, Refugees & Returnees Affairs, HRD & Finance as well as, Planning, Policy & Evaluation and Internal audit Services. Currently, it manages more than thirty projects all over the country with a total of 5.5 million beneficiaries.
