Primate’s World Relief and Development Fund, The

The Primate’s World Relief and Development Fund (PWRDF) is the Canadian Anglican agency for development, relief, refugees and social justice. PWRDF works in partnership with organizations in Canada and throughout the world to support people-centered development. PWRDF partners come from Anglican churches, ecumenical organizations and community-based groups.

Emergency Response through ACT Alliance supports emergency funding and long-term rehabilitation following natural disasters and war.

Refugee Protection is provided for refugees and displaced populations through humanitarian relief aid in many parts of the world. PWRDF works on policy and advocacy through the Canadian Council for Refugees (CCR) and KAIROS (Canadian Ecumenical Justice Initiatives).

Development Work is supported through grants to community-based organizations that meet basic human needs, strengthen the role of women, promote peace, reconciliation and human rights, build local expertise and work to support democratic development.

The Canadian Indigenous Program is facilitated through grants to community-based projects and helps to develop relationships between Canadian and overseas Indigenous communities.

Global Justice Education is animated by PWRDF’s national volunteer network of parish, diocesan and youth representatives, ecumenically and in Canadian Anglican parishes.

As well as working internationally, PWRDF works with Indigenous communities in Canada: Mainland Mi’kmaq (Nova Scotia), Mohawk (Quebec), Nishnawbe Aski Nation (Ontario),  Nuu-chah-nulth (British Columbia),  First Nations Adult and Higher Education Consortium (Alberta), Tlicho (Northwest Territories), Kainai ARBI/FAS Committee (Alberta) Northern Aboriginal Iskwewak (Manitoba)
