ACT India Forum

India has a large presence of ACT Alliance members, both local and international, with a long experience of humanitarian, development and advocacy work in the country.

This includes many years of involvement by CASA, UELCI and LWS India, in implementing coordinated humanitarian programmes with support of the ACT Appeal and Rapid Response Fund mechanisms over the 15 years of ACT International's existence, with the support of various ACT members around the world. And involvement of local members in the global ACT initiative on Impact Assessment.

Recognizing the need to strengthen cooperation and coordination as members of the ACT Alliance, ACT members in the country met together in August 2009 to discuss the formation of an ACT India Forum.  A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is now under development led by a Forum task force.  This MoU will articulate members' joint commitment and ways of working to share their knowledge, experiences, learning and challenges and to support mutual transparency and accountability as part of this inclusive platform for Alliance cooperation.

There are currently five local Indian member organizations, approximately another five international ACT members with offices in the country, and over ten other members around the world funding and otherwise supporting on-going humanitarian, development, and advocacy work in India. These members include:

- Churches Auxiliary for Social Action (CASA), CARD, United Evangelical Lutheran Church of India (UELCI), Lutheran World Service India Trust (LWSIT), Synodical Board of Social Services- Church of North India

- Christian Aid, DanChurchAid, ICCO and Kerkinactie, Lutheran World Relief, Evangelical Lutheran Church of America
