ACT Philippines Forum

The local ACT Alliance Member in the Philippines is the National Council of Churches in the Philippines (NCCP).

Other international members include Christian Aid (CA), Lutheran World Relief (LWR) and the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR).

Christian Aid started operating in the Philippines in the late 1970s with partnerships and programmes managed from the London Headquarters.  Christian Aid set up a country office in 2000 and works on development issues of disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation, urban poverty, mining and its effects on indigenous and rural poor communities and making fiscal policies work for the poor. Christian Aid carries out humanitarian response with its partner NGOs.

Christian Aid Philippines joins NCCP, LWR and UMCOR in the ACT Philippines Forum to coordinate with network members on the work in the Philippines and share updates and learning with the rest of ACT.

Since 2006 both CA and NCCP have co-operated under ACT Appeals ASPH62 (Mayon Volcano), ASPH63 (Typhoon Durian) as well as ASPH81 (Typhoon Fengshen).   Since 2009 all the above ACT Alliance members in the Philippines have been collaborating under ACT Appeal PHL091 (Typhoon Ketsana).
