China: Sichuan Earthquake - CHN131

Appeal Target: US$ 1,818,803. ACT member The Amity Foundation plans to assist the most vulnerable, resource poor affected in the remote mountainous areas with food (rice and cooking oil) and non-food items (quilts and plastic sheeting) during the crisis phase. During the post crisis phase, Amity plans to assist the most vulnerable families in rebuilding quake-resistant homes, regaining livelihood activities, ensuring sustainable clean water supplies and psycho-social assistance in the form of community activities. This appeal replaces the Preliminary Appeal issued on 24 April 2013.

Syria: Assistance to the affected in Syrian conflict, REVISION 4 - SYR121

Appeal Target: US$ 9,858,485. A wide range of services have been provided by ACT members under this appeal including shelter, food and nutrition, education, water and sanitation, health and psychosocial support. Thanks to the generous contribution of 20 different ACT members, the appeal is now covered by over 60 percent. As a consequence, and according to ACT policies, this appeal has become subject to an external evaluation. A fourth revision was therefore needed to include the evaluation component and a budget estimation of 36,000 USD.

Occupied Palestinian Territory: Support for Gaza and the West Bank - PSE131

Preliminary Appeal Target: US$ 1,001.913. Activities planned by ACT members include support to hospitals, education, income generation and capacity building. Particularly important is the psycho-social programme of ACT members in Gaza which provides counselling to people affected be the protracted humanitarian crisis.

India: Drought Relief & Rehabilitation in Maharashtra - IND131

Preliminary Appeal Target: US$ 498,950. ACT member Church’s Auxiliary for Social Action (CASA) is proposing to alleviate the effects of the unprecedented drought in Maharashtra of 3,000 of the most vulnerable and resource poor families and their livestock in 60 of the most severely hit villages in 6 districts of the state. CASA plans provision of clean water supplies through water tankers, fodder for the livestock and facilitation of livelihood revival through provision of organic manure and seeds.

ACT member The Amity Foundation is planning to assist the most resource-poor and seriously affected communities in the more remote areas that are not in the limelight and, consequently, have received very little if any assistance. Amity has already distributed instant foods such as noodles, biscuits, bread and bottled water and now plans to provide rice and cooking oil along with non-food items such as quilts and plastic sheeting for use as temporary shelter as well as water purifying appliances. For the post crisis period, Amity plans to provide assistance with housing, livelihood, reconstruction of potable water systems as well as psycho-social assistance.

Indonesia: Assistance to people displaced by Rokatenda eruptions - RRF No. 05/2013

ACT Rapid Response Payment for US$ 58,119. ACT member Yakkum Emergency Unit (YEU) will facilitate and ensure the fulfilment of the basic needs and rights of the growing number of families who cannot return to their homes due to the continuing eruptions, flooding and landslides and who remain in temporary shelter. The 2 objectives will be: 1) to provide immediate basic needs for around 1,200 people, affected directly by the eruption, through provision of food and non-food items, water-sanitation and health services; and 2) to develop emergency preparedness through capacity building in five camps.

Mozambique: Flooding in central and southern provinces - MOZ131

Appeal Target: US$ 1,779,148. ACT members, the Lutheran World Federation (LWF), Ecumenical Committee for Social Development (CEDES) and the Council of Churches in Mozambique (CCM) are responding to this disaster with the goal of reducing suffering and facilitating recovery of flood affected communities through the provision of emergency and post recovery assistance.
