Liberia: urgent need for refugee support

Wednesday, March 02, 2011

A huge refugee camp is being built in Bahn, Liberia, to host refugees fleeing the instability in Côte d'Ivoire. The construction of the camp takes time, and so far, only a few hundred refugees have been able to move in.

ACT in Liberia is re-iterating the need for urgent assistance to refugees. The five members of ACT Liberia - Finn Church Aid, Church of Sweden, ICCO, Diakonie Katastrophenhilfe (DKH), and Lutheran Development Service - have launched a three month US$ 376,906 appeal to sustain people with basic survival kits, emergency health services, emergency education, psychosocial support, and basic road repair so aid can get to refugees and host communities.
