West African region of the Sahel is on the brink of famine. Governments have declared states of emergency and called for international assistance. And at the same time thousands of refugees cross the borders of Mali fleeing the clashes between Tuaregs and armed forces. ACT Alliance member Lutheran World Federation (LWF) is responsible for providing a safe haven for the thousands of people fleeing in to Mauritania every day.
