Chile

The 8.8 magnitude earthquake in Chile - one of the most powerful recorded – in February 2010 killed more than 700 people. Worst hit was Concepcion, which was left greatly destroyed. Some families were housed in church buildings having lost everything.  The gorvernment estimated two million people were affected and 1.5m lost homes. ACT Alliance was on hand to supplement the effort of the government, especially in communities where ACT partners had operated for years.
