Honduras

Political upheaval in Honduras resulted in the ousting and then return of President Manuel Zelaya in 2009. ACT members were forced to close their offices and keep a low profile throughout the country during that period. Since the beginning of the political crisis, ACT supported people forced out of their homes – those left stuck on roads by the curfews or fear of authorities, or who were unable to access food, drinking water, medicine and hygiene kits or transport. In areas of the country prone to storms, floods and landslides, search and rescue and first aid skills taught by ACT are invaluable.
