Mauritania

The largely desert state of Mauritania also experiences periods of flood damage.  In September 2009, heavy rain caused severe flooding in the southeastern Mauritanian city of Rosso, near the Senegal River, leaving 3500 homeless.  ACT allocated $71,300 for provision of clean drinking water, toilet facilities, mosquito control and rubbish removal.
