Solomon Islands

An earthquake registering a magnitude of 8.0 shook the western part of the Pacific Solomon Islands chain in April 2007.  ACT, through the World Council of Churches office in the Pacific, assisted 100 families with food parcels sufficient for one month. Non-food items such as tarpaulins, household utensils and sleeping materials were also provided for the most severely affected.
